Statewide semiconductor education initiative continues to grow, introducing students to innovation, technology, and future career pathways.

The IEEE TryEngineering Educator Session, hosted in partnership with the University of Florida’s Florida Semiconductor Institute (FSI), provided Florida educators with a two-day professional development experience focused on semiconductor education, engineering design, and artificial intelligence.

UF’s “PATHS” program trains autistic students for semiconductor manufacturing with virtual reality and custom tools. The initiative also offers hands‑on training, resume help and one-on-one mentorships for neurodivergent students. The goal is to convert internships into full‑time roles and broaden workplace inclusion for autistic workers.

Last week, we hosted the second annual Semiconductor Education Day, a one-day event providing educators from across Florida with hands-on experiences in UF semiconductor labs, interactive sessions on integrating semiconductor concepts into K-20 curricula, inspiring talks on building educational partnerships, and much more.

This year’s summit theme is “Semiconductor Manufacturing in Florida: Power. Progress. Possibilities.” This summit offers a unique opportunity to connect with industry leaders, explore cutting-edge advancements, and delve into the evolving role of semiconductors in aerospace and defense in the state of Florida.
