DALIR’S CHIP LAB INTEGRATES ML WITH OPTICAL NETWORKS

Dr. Dalir’s group at Florida Semiconductor Institute recently published a paper in Nature Communications Physics showcasing their research on integrating machine learning with optical networks. This work proposed a hybrid optical-electronic convolutional neural network system that incorporates Fourier optics convolution to demultiplex multiplexed orbital angular momentum beams, marking a significant advancement in optical computing and communication technologies. The system, designed by PhD student Jiachi Ye, has the potential to reduce overall latency and energy consumption in optical computing and communications.
