On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, The Florida Semiconductor Institute (FSI) and Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) formalized a partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership will synergize academic rigor, subject-matter experts, and industry guidance to develop the first-in-the-nation industry-recognized credential for semiconductors.

On June 18, 2024, in Raleigh, NC, FSI Director David Arnold was inducted into the National Academy of Inventors. Dr. Arnold’s portfolio includes 35 U.S. patents, with 8 currently licensed to 4 different companies. Among his notable contributions, he co-invented the microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) microphone chip packaging technology, now used in billions of consumer electronic devices.
