Today, UF Innovate officially kicks off its Spring 2026 NSF I‑Corps Semiconductor Regional Course. This program brings together 47 participants across 15 teams from UF, USF, and UCF, supported by five seasoned industry and entrepreneurial mentors, to explore the commercial potential of semiconductor technologies. Through the NSF I-Corps network, researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs receive hands-on training in customer discovery and commercialization, preparing them to address real market needs.
UF Innovate Launches Spring 2026 NSF I‑Corps Semiconductor Regional Course
As part of the national NSF I‑Corps network, the course is designed to accelerate technology translation and strengthen the semiconductor innovation pipeline. The program equips participants with the tools and training necessary to identify real market needs, understand customer perspectives, and validate the commercial potential of their technologies.
Selected teams will engage in structured customer-discovery and commercialization training, the core of the NSF I‑Corps experience. Through hands-on exercises, mentoring, and guidance, participants will learn how to refine their technology solutions to better meet industry and market demands. This process not only strengthens the teams’ business strategies but also helps build confidence and resilience as innovators navigating complex markets.
A highlight of the program is the opportunity for participants to engage directly with industry leaders at the Florida Semiconductor Summit, taking place February 23–25. The summit offers a unique platform for teams to gather real-world insights, validate market needs, and explore partnerships with companies at the forefront of semiconductor innovation. By connecting with industry experts, the teams can gain invaluable feedback that informs both their technology development and commercialization strategies.
The course runs weekly through March 12, providing a comprehensive and immersive learning experience. Upon successful completion, teams are eligible to apply for the NSF National I‑Corps Teams program, where they can receive up to $50,000 in funding to further advance their innovations and bring them closer to market.
UF Innovate, in partnership with program collaborators, is supporting this cohort as they navigate the process of translating cutting-edge semiconductor research into impactful commercial solutions. Through collaboration, mentorship, and industry engagement, the program helps strengthen Florida’s semiconductor ecosystem and advance the state’s innovation landscape.
