The Florida Semiconductor Institute (FSI) invites teachers and students across the state to participate in an exciting statewide STEM challenge! This is a valuable opportunity to incorporate semiconductor-focused modules into STEM programs across the state, with the added incentive of competing for recognition and prizes. 

The Big Question:

“How do semiconductors shape our world, and how can YOU be part of the future of this industry?”

How to Participate

Classroom Implementation: April 1st – May 9th 
Showcase Week: May 12th – May 16th 
Submit Entries By May 16th by tagging us on Instagram @uf_fsi

How It Works

1. Register Your Classroom – Teachers sign up to receive semiconductor lesson plans. 

2. Select & Teach a Lesson – Explore a collection of elementary, middle, and high school lesson plans curated from our trusted
educational partners. These resources have been developed by industry leaders and organizations dedicated to advancing semiconductor education.

3. Capture Student Engagement – Take photos, record videos, or collect student reflections.

4. Submit Your Entries – Showcase student work by tagging @uf_fsi on Instagram during Showcase Week.

5. Win Recognition & Prizes! – Standout classrooms and educators will be featured and awarded!

Lesson Plan Options

  • Elementary: Fun discussions, drawings, and activities exploring how semiconductors power daily life.
  • Middle School: Research projects or presentations on semiconductor applications (AI, medical tech, space).
  • High School: Innovation challenge—students propose solutions to global challenges using semiconductors.

Prizes & Recognition

Grand Prize: FSI Trailblazer Award
This prestigious award recognizes the top educator leading innovation in semiconductor education.

Classroom Swag Box
Winning classrooms will each receive semiconductor-themed goodies:

  • One for an Elementary Classroom
  • One for a Middle School Classroom
  • One for a High School Classroom

Website & Social Media Feature
The winning classrooms and standout teachers will be showcased on our website and social media platforms.

Certificate of Participation
All educators and students who submit entries will receive a Certificate of Participation as an official recognition of their involvement.

Winning classrooms will be announced on May 23rd via Instagram and featured on our website!

We are predicting a massive demand for skilled professionals, with nearly 10,000 new jobs expected in Florida alone. This means incredible career opportunities for students in fields like: 
Engineering – Designing and building chips

Teachers must ensure that all student photos and videos submitted have the appropriate permissions and media releases required by their school or district. If your district required specific consent forms, please follow those guidelines before submitting entries.
