Description of Talk
This presentation will explore strategies to recruit, train, and sustain a skilled workforce through career discovery programs, hands-on training, and industry partnerships. Key initiatives include high school and homeschool technical training, micro credentials, preapprenticeship and apprenticeships, programs designed to build a sustainable talent pipeline. Emphasis will be placed on innovative recruitment strategies to attract and engage future skilled workers.
Biography
Tom Mudano, President & CEO of AmSkills since 2016, has led the organization’s transformation into a premier workforce training and apprenticeship provider in the Tampa Bay region. With a unique background in business, government, and nonprofits, he has developed innovative programs, including Florida’s first Department of Education Registered High School and Home School Pre-Apprenticeship, Adult Pre-Apprenticeships, micro-credentials, and Apprenticeships in Machining, Mechatronics, and Robotics. AmSkills has also expanded its impact through partnerships, becoming Amatrol’s first Regional Training Center and collaborating with the University of Florida’s Florida Semiconductor Institute to support semiconductor workforce development. Tom serves on the boards of CareerSource Pasco Hernando, the Bay Area Manufacturing Association and the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing Institute Workforce Committee, earning recognition such as Tampa Bay Business Journal’s “Top 25 People to Watch in 2022.”
