Farah El Mamouni
Aerospace Radiation Effects Engineer, Honeywell

Talk Title:
Survivability and Hardness Assurance of Devices and Systems
Description of Talk
Space environment is rich with charged particles originating mainly from the Van Allen belts, the cosmic rays, and the solar wind. These particles can disrupt the normal operation of the electronics onboard the space vehicles or permanently destruct it causing major mission failures. The failure mechanisms due to the Total Ionizing Dose and Single Event Effects on CMOS and Bipolar technologies are discussed, along with Examples of Mitigation techniques. Insights into the radiation effects of the highly scaled technologies of the future are explored.
