The Florida Semiconductor Institute (FSI) and the University of South Florida (USF) recently brought together educators from across the Tampa Bay region for a comprehensive Education Day hosted at USF.
FSI and USF Bring Together Educators to Advance STEM and Semiconductor Workforce Development
Designed to explore STEM education and semiconductor workforce development in depth, the event provided participants with a mix of hands-on experiences, informative sessions, and opportunities for meaningful collaboration.
The program featured guided tours of specialty laboratories within the USF College of Engineering, giving educators an up-close look at the advanced facilities and cutting-edge technologies that are shaping the future of semiconductor research and innovation. Curriculum-focused sessions highlighted strategies for strengthening pathways into engineering and technology careers, while interactive discussions allowed participants to share insights and best practices.
In addition, attendees heard from USF College of Engineering leadership and institutional partners, emphasizing the critical role of cross-sector collaboration in preparing Florida’s next generation of semiconductor professionals. By connecting educators, researchers, and industry partners, the event underscored the importance of building strong networks to support workforce development in high-demand technical fields.
The Florida Semiconductor Institute thanks all faculty, staff, and educators whose curiosity and engagement made Education Day both informative and inspiring. We look forward to continuing these efforts and invite educators to join future regional Education Days, bringing hands-on STEM experiences and workforce development opportunities to students and communities across Florida.
