Florida Semiconductor Institute Hosts its First Industry Mixer

Last week, we hosted the first Florida Semiconductor Institute (FSI) Industry Mixer in Malachowsky Hall. The event provided students with the opportunity to network with semiconductor industry professionals and we were thrilled to welcome over 27 industry representatives and over 130 students.

The event kicked off with opening remarks from FSI Deputy Director Dr. Jack Judy and was followed by a panel discussion with industry representatives from Micron, SkyWater Technology, L3Harris, and Samsung Semiconductor.

During the panel discussion, industry representatives shared insights about careers in the semiconductor industry, and students participated in a Q&A discussion at the end. Following an engaging Q&A, the event transitioned into a networking session, allowing students to speak with industry representatives, pitch themselves, and gain insights into potential career paths, industry trends, and the work lifestyle of working in the semiconductor industry.

The event highlighted the gaining interest in semiconductor industry careers and underscored the importance of future events like this in connecting students with industry professionals.

We extend our gratitude to our co-sponsor SCRO Gator, for their invaluable assistance during the event! We also want to say thank all of the industry representatives who attended the event. We had representatives from Astera Labs, Evatec, Florida Chamber Foundation, FloridaMakes, FLATE, Honeywell, IC2, L3Harris, Mattrix Technologies, McKinsey & Co., Micron Technology, Samsung Semiconductor, Sandia National Laboratories, Sonatype, SkyWater Technologies, Texas Instruments, and Vertaeon LLC.
